Alicia loves to play the piano when she is eight years old. Her family started her on a community centre course as they could not afford the fees to send her to a professional teacher to learn. Alicia would spend two hours a day at the community centre practicing her skills as her family could not afford to buy her a piano. Several years after her learning, the community centre had to be demolished for a new commercial building. Alicia then had to stop her piano lessons.

Nevertheless, Alicia never gave up on her passion. She borrowed books from the library on piano and request assistance from her school music teacher to answer any of her queries. Alicia diligently saved a major portion of her school allowance, borrowed a sum of money from her brother to buy her own piano where she could practice more hours at home. Despite not having any professional piano lessons, Alicia was able to compose her own music chords. She also participated in many performances in her school celebrations programs.

A change of events took place and her family had to shift house. Her father had to sell her piano because the new place was much smaller and could not contain her precious piano. Alicia cried for many days and she stopped playing the piano since then.

On her 25^th birthday, Alicia was invited to her friend’s wedding in a hotel. She came early and walked around the hotel premises. To her delight, she chanced upon a Baby Grand. At that moment, she fell in love with it. Seeing no one was nearby, she let her fingers ran through melodies after melodies. Alicia was also surprised that she could still play after so many years of not touching the keyboard.

At that moment, a famous composer was staying in the hotel and he heard the heavenly music. Alicia was immediately offered to be his pupil and the years that follow after that, Alicia released her own album which was admired by millions.

This necklace has a little story....

There were two Chinese families, Tan and Teh who had been in the noodle restaurant business for generations.

Their forefathers had given them each a pair of metal chopsticks as heirloom with the message that these chopsticks will be the pillar of strength and hope that will bring prosperity to their children. Both families regard these chopsticks of high value and enclose them in a glass cabinet with gold coating in front of their restaurants to be consistently reminded of their forefathers' message.

However, in one very unfortunate year, a dreadful recession hit the country and their noodle restaurant businesses were badly affected.

Mr Tan, the head of the family then, made a painful decision to sell the glass cabinet with gold coating to raise more funds for his business. Mr Tan procured an extensive range of ingredients to serve a broader range of menu to attract more customers, with the attempt of providing more value for his noodles at the same price that his customers were paying. At the same time, Mr. Tan also used his forefather's metal chopsticks to cook the noodles, with the strength and hope to persevere through this recession. Many times he was disappointed that he was not getting the results he wanted. Holding on to the metal chopsticks, he persisted and constantly innovate his cooking and serving style to appeal to his customers. Finally, the Tan Noodle Restaurant pulled through and opened several branches after the recession.

Mr. Teh, similarly were also having a difficult time during the recession. However, the only action he took was to constantly gazed on his forefather's treasure with the hope that recession will be over soon and his business will improve. Mr. Teh did not take any positive step to improve sales, nor attempt to reinvent to cope with recession. He did nothing except hope. Ultimately, Mr. Teh had to give up his noodle business and the only possession he left were the pair of metal chopsticks.
